Lara + Eric’s Ottawa engagement session
I was feeling inspired with this engagement session to tell the story of how Lara and Eric first met. She was recovering from dental surgery and a friend set them up for an on-line video chat where he showed her some card tricks to cheer her up. Their first date? Second Cup on Rideau Street in downtown Ottawa. So we condensed it a little and had Eric bring some cards to the coffee shop for the shoot which we finished off with a walk around the market and Parliament Hill. What can I say, I’m a sucker for love stories and always love hearing how two people meet and fall for each other!
So for all those engaged couples who are wondering why they should bother with an engagement portrait session before the big day, try to make it your own and make it fun. Not only will this help you relax in front of the camera on a day when your nerves will already be tested but it helps me immensely to understand the best way to interact with you and also what types of poses are the most flattering ensuring amazing portraits on your wedding day. Another great reason for an engagement portrait session is that these images can be used in a book that can be signed by guests at the wedding. Why get a boring guest book when you can have a high end coffee table style book that you will actually keep looking for years to come? Lara and Eric’s book should be arriving tomorrow, just in time for their big day in a couple of weeks. Can’t wait!
